Jessica-

I have a few suggestions for dealing with cell phone problems.

If the library is serious about cell phones not being used (which they should be, because it keeps the library about studying), they should consider having small vauable lockers that you can put your phones into when you enter the library. This way, they create a division that they are serious about the policy and also give a way to safeguard valuables.

At this time, memorial only allows for cell phone use outside of the exit gates in the west corridor. For someone studying on the fourth floor who needs to make a one minute phone call, this is unrealistic and they will break the room. If there is a room in the library in a highly trafficked area (say somewhere on floor 2 or floor 4) where students could go to make calls, this would wend a better message-- a type of cell phone lounge/food lounge within the library that students who wanted to honor the restrictions could have an easier time doing so.
